What got you into emulation?

I got into emulation for a simple reason, I've had so many games stolen and it's stupid to purchase the same game twice, dont you think?! I remember the one game that got stolen that really pissed me off was "Perfect Dark", and someone ended up selling it to my next door neighbor. I couldn't take it back from him though, it wasnt his fault and he paid for it.

Emulation is a blessing! I believe my first emulated system was either SNES or NES, but I've successfully emulated NES, SNES, SEGA, Game Gear, GBC, N64, PSX, GBA, Atari, Nintendo DS on my android phone and my PC.

Well, that's a reason I had never heard of, most people just want to replay the games of their childhood

In my case, I got into emulation after spending a few days at my cousin's. He let me use his computer and I found a folder named "KGEN" (later I found out this is one of the "legendary" Genesis emulators). I played for a while until I realized I was playing console games on a computer! I had never seen anything like it. I saved all ROMs I could on a few floppy disks so I could take them home. Really, being able to play console games on my home computer without actually having to buy all those systems was like heaven for a 9 or 10 year old.

Then I kept learning about emulators and trying to get on the Internet whenever I could so I could find more ROM sites, which were a rare occurrence back then Wow, things have changed a lot.

I use emulation to enjoy the classics as well, but the primary reason was the beforementioned. Ha ha yeah people used to boast about having 500 roms on their websites back in the day, boy has that changed. We have 30,000 ROMs and that's not nearly as large as some giants like EmuParadise

Yeah, to this day, when I think of it, I still find it amazing that I can just go here and download a PSX ISO. Back then it took a lot of searching and downloading through a 56k line a Genesis ROM.

Links to good ROM sites were like a treasure.
